NEW 4 WEEK BEGINNING CLAY CLASS JUST ADDED! 

Intro to Clay -- 4 week class

For ages 14+.  This is a NEW class designed to introduce students to the basics of clay.  Students will learn the following techniques: pinch, slab and coil.  This class is for individuals with little to no experience.

Date: Wednesdays, January 31st - February 21st (4 week class)

Time: 6:00-8:00 pm

Cost: $95.00

1.0 Beginning Wheel -- 7 week class--SOLD OUT

For ages 14+.  This class is an introduction to working with clay on the potter’s wheel. Each student will have their own wheel to work with.  You will learn the basic techniques of wheel-work and explore the cup and cylinder.   This class is for individuals with little to no experience.

Date: Monday, January 8th –February 19th   (7 week class)

Time: 6:00-8:00 pm

2.0 Beginning Wheel 

For ages 14+.  This class is an introduction to working with clay on the potter’s wheel. Each student will have their own wheel to work with.  Students will refresh and refine their basic wheel throwing skills.  This class is intended for beginners to expand on their basic knowledge and continue to develop their throwing skills.

Intermediate Wheel--SOLD OUT

For ages 14+.   This class is focused on soda firing techniques, exploring surfaces and forms that lead themselves to this process.  The class will actively participate in the firing process of two soda kilns.  This class is intended for students with a basic knowledge of clay.

Special Topics--Pour It Up!

Whether the cup is half full or empty, it had to get that way somehow!  Join Lars for an in-depth study of pots that pour.  We'll be neck deep in pitchers, ewers, cruets, teapots, jugs, gravy boats and even coffee pour overs.  Come on down to wet your whistle on the wheel or on the table.

Skill Level:  Intermediate to Advanced. For ages 14+. 

Date: Wednesdays, January 3rd – February 21st

  • Bring a small bucket, towel, and pottery tool kit* to class.

  • Tuition includes one 12 pound bag of clay, open studio time, 36" shelf space and some firing costs.

NOTES:

  • *Pottery tool kits as well as additional clay and glass supplies may be purchased at the Ceramics Center.

  • Unless otherwise noted, class participants may be charged firing fees for extra work made during the session.

This is an introductory class in glass fusing.  You will learn the fundamentals of glass fusing: cutting glass, laying it out in creative ways, and fusing it together to create unique designs and projects.  No glass experience is required.

Advanced Glass (Age 14+)

This class is ideal for students with strong basic fusing skills who are self-motivated and have several projects in mind. New techniques will be introduced such as frit, and more complex slumping methods. Fusing and slumping experience is required.

Date: Monday, January 8th –February 19th   (7 week class)

Glass for Everyone (Age 14+)

This is a class for any level. During the first six weeks, we will concentrate on the basics of glass fusing (cutting and firing temperatures) and different techniques of decorating glass while creating small projects. The last two weeks will be for larger projects of your choosing. No glass experience is required.
