Clay Classes for Session 5


Beginning Wheel 1.0 (Age 14+) —7 weeks

Introduction to working with clay on the pottery wheel. Each student will have their own wheel to work with.  You will learn basic throwing techniques and explore the cup and cylinder. This class is for individuals with little to no experience. 

Date: Monday, September 9th  – October 21st – 7 weeks

Time: 6:00-8:00pm

Beginning Wheel 2.0 (Age 14+)

This class is an introduction to working with clay on the pottery wheel. Each student will have their own wheel to work with.  Students will refresh and refine their basic wheel throwing skills, while developing their individual style. This class is intended for beginners to expand on their basic knowledge and continue to develop their throwing skills.

Date: Thursday, September 5th –October 24th

Time: 6:00-8:00pm

Intermediate Wheel (Age 14+)

Take your pots to the next level! Get your pots lighter, bigger and more refined. Each class will focus on reviewing a wheel technique! Skill level: intermediate to advanced.  This class is intended for students with a strong basic knowledge of throwing.

Date: Tuesday, September 3rd   – October 22nd

Special Topics – Tiles Making (Age 14+)  

In this class you will learn about tile making through designing and creating interlocking patterns as well as developing sculptural relief tiles.  This class will work with terra cotta clay. All skills levels are welcome!

Date: Wednesdays, September 4th –October 23rd

Time: 6:00-8:00 pm

  • Bring a small bucket, towel, and pottery tool kit* to class.

  • Tuition includes one 12 pound bag of clay, open studio time, 36" shelf space and some firing costs.

NOTES:

  • *Pottery tool kits as well as additional clay and glass supplies may be purchased at the Ceramics Center.

  • Unless otherwise noted, class participants may be charged firing fees for extra work made during the session.


Glass Classes for Session 5

This is a class for any level.  During the first six weeks we will concentrate on the basics of glass fusing (cutting and firing temperatures) and different techniques of decorating glass while creating small projects.  The last two weeks will be for larger projects of your choosing.  No glass experience is required.
