DESCRIPTION: The Iowa Ceramics Center and Glass Studio in Cedar Rapids, Iowa is pleased to present: Earth, Sand and Fire : The Bowl an Iowa Ceramics Center and Glass Studio Community Exhibition. This exhibition is part of A Formed Community Exhibition Series at the Iowa Ceramics Center and Glass Studio to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the Center.

This exhibition will highlight the richness and diversity of ceramic and glass artists within the Iowa Ceramics Center and Glass Studio. Artist are asked to interpret the idea of the bowl. Work submitted must be original, must use clay or glass as the primary material and must have been completed at the Iowa Ceramics Center and Glass Studio within the last 2 years.

ELIGIBILITY: Open to all in the ICCGS community--all works will be accepted if they meet the below requirements. Work submitted must be original, must use clay or glass as the primary material, and must have been completed at the Iowa Ceramics Center and Glass Studio within the last 2 years. Floor and pedestal works must be self-supporting. Wall hanging works must include all hanging systems necessary for secure public display and installation. Individual objects should weigh less than 10 lbs. and 12” x 12” x 12” dimensions. iCCGS staff reserves the right to exclude items that arrive at the venue in poor condition.

SUBMISSION PROCESS: Sign up is required by February 15th. The sign up sheet is located in the ICCGS office, participants must sign up in-person by February 15th. Drop off work at the Iowa Ceramics Center and Glass Studio Gallery March 1st or 2nd between 10:00 am - 2:00 pm.

HAND DELIVERY: Work must be delivered by: March 1st or 2nd, 10:00 am-2:00 pm. Please do not drop off items before this date, we are unable to store items prior to March 1st.

INSURANCE AND SALES: Although the greatest care will be taken in handling of entries, ICCGS will not accept any responsibility for damage of work submitted which is improperly packed for handling. All accepted works must be insured for shipment. If any work is broken while on exhibit, ICCGS will reimburse the artist for 60% of the retail price (the full artist commission). No accepted entry may be withdrawn prior to the close of the exhibition without permission from the director of the iCCGS.

PROMOTION: Participating artists must agree to allow iCCGS staff and visitors to photograph work while on display for educational and publicity purposes. Images of accepted works will be retained by iCCGS for social media, website and marketing purposes (with artist credit).
